The SMC workshop, originally scheduled for May 2020 and postponed because of the pandemic, will take place in Madrid in May 4-6, 2022.
Please, keep an eye on this website. We will soon announce a confirmed list of speakers.
Looking forward to welcoming you in Madrid next spring!
Videos of the invited speakers are now available. Please, see the ‘Technical Programme’ tab and click on a speaker name to watch his/her talk.

Special issue on sequential Monte Carlo methods of the Foundations of Data Science journal. All participants are invited to contribute with a journal version of their talk/poster presentation.
About SMC 2022
Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) methods, also known as particle filters or particle methods, have become popular and powerful tools for computational inference in complex probabilistic models used in many and varied fields and applications, including meteorology and oceanography, electrical and aerospace engineering (target tracking, sensor networks, etc.), biochemistry, ecology and several others. The aim of this workshop is to:
- Bring together researchers developing and using SMC methods in various scientific fields (both in academia and industry).
- Open up the field to researchers and users who are new to SMC methods. We will emphasise the interaction of SMC with related areas of research (such as machine learning or data science) where computational inference plays a key role.
Where and when?
The Workshop will be held on the Leganés campus of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, May 4-6, 2022.
